How we handle your personal information

Loan Ranger Finance Pty Ltd trading as FundUp (“FundUp”, “we”, “us”) is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.

Who we are

FundUp is a mortgage and finance broker. We are a Credit Representative (number 571356) of LMG Broker Services Pty Ltd ACN 632 405 504, Australian Credit Licence 517192 (“LMG”, our licensee). This policy covers FundUp and this website. LMG handles the information it holds under its own consumer privacy policy.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to help you with finance. That can include:

  • Enquiry details. When you use the enquiry form on this site: your name, phone number, email address, the kind of help you are after (for example first home, refinance or commercial), your income range, whether you agree to SMS and marketing contact, and the page you sent the form from.
  • Application details. If you go ahead with us: identification, contact and household details, employment and income, assets, liabilities and expenses, the property or asset involved, and supporting documents such as payslips, tax returns, BAS and bank statements. Credit law requires us to collect enough of this to assess whether a loan is suitable for you.
  • Website usage. Technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site. See “Cookies and analytics” below.

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health information) unless it is relevant to your application, for example a hardship or serviceability question, and then only with your consent. You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym for general questions, but we need to identify you to arrange credit.

How we use it

  • to respond to your enquiry and contact you about it by phone, email or, if you agree, SMS;
  • to assess your situation, compare loans and prepare and submit applications on your behalf;
  • to meet our obligations under credit, anti-money laundering, tax and other laws;
  • to manage our relationship with you after settlement, including loan reviews;
  • to protect this site and its forms against spam and abuse; and
  • if you have ticked the marketing box, to send you news and offers. You can opt out at any time by using the opt-out in any message we send, or by telling us.

When you send the enquiry form

The form is processed on our website server and emailed to us, with a confirmation emailed to you, through Resend, an email delivery service. Resend handles the message only to deliver it. We do not store your enquiry in a separate website database; it lives in our email and, once we start working together, in our client records. To stop automated spam, the server briefly keeps a count of submissions per IP address in memory, and our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, and Google advertising tags that measure whether our ads lead to enquiries. These tools set cookies and collect information about your visit, such as pages viewed, time on page, device and approximate location. We use the reports to understand which pages help people and to improve the site. We do not use them to identify you, and we do not use them to collect the details you type into our form.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers an opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics. The site still works without cookies.

Who we share it with

We share your information only as needed to help you, or where the law requires it:

  • Our licensee, LMG, which oversees our credit activities and provides the systems we use to prepare and lodge applications;
  • Lenders and their service providers you apply to, including mortgage insurers and valuers. When you apply, the lender may obtain credit information about you from a credit reporting body under its own credit reporting policy;
  • people who help with your transaction or that you ask us to deal with, such as your accountant, conveyancer, solicitor, builder or a guarantor;
  • service providers that run our systems, including email, document storage, website hosting (Vercel), email delivery (Resend) and analytics (Google); and
  • regulators, courts, AFCA and law enforcement where we are required or permitted by law.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. LMG's privacy policy lists the countries it uses. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We never sell your personal information.

Keeping it secure, and for how long

We keep your information in access-controlled systems and only share it with people who need it. Credit law requires us to keep records of the credit assistance we give, generally for at least seven years. When we no longer need information and are not required to keep it, we securely destroy or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by calling or emailing us. We will confirm who you are first, and we aim to respond within 30 days. There is no charge to ask. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain.

Privacy complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first. We handle privacy complaints through the same process and timeframes as any other complaint, set out on our feedback and complaints page. You can also contact LMG's Privacy Officer at privacy@lmg.broker or Privacy Officer, Level 26, 111 Eagle Street, Brisbane QLD 4000.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can complain to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (details on our complaints page) or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
